Between May 24 and 29, 2026, Give to Nature and partners visited Luang Prabang, Muang Xay, Luang Namtha, and Vientiane to understand Laos’ rubber sector. We carried out field interviews with 4 Chinese-invested rubber companies, 6 groups of farmers (including 1 rubber cooperative), 1 rubber association expert, and 4 NGOs and international organizations.
This report looks at three groups – Chinese companies in Laos, local farming communities, and local NGOs – to map out the challenges facing the sustainable development of the Lao rubber sector and the real needs of each group, in order to support future decision-making on sustainability-related work.
