We are pleased to release our latest study, Policies and Regulations on Community-Led Mangrove Conservation and Restoration in Thailand, authored by Jaruwan Kaewmahanin and Dr. Robert Fisher as part of Give to Nature’s ongoing work on community-led coastal stewardship in Southeast Asia. While Thailand has made notable progress shifting from state-driven monoculture planting to ecologically sound, community-based restoration models and recognizing local coastal networks, frontline communities still face major hurdles—from precarious 10-year tenure limits and restricted resource access to emerging inequities in voluntary carbon finance and short-term CSR initiatives. Drawing directly on grounded case studies across Trad, Krabi, and Samut Sakhon, this report analyzes the real-world gaps in current policy and outlines actionable pathways to secure genuine community rights, equitable benefit-sharing, and lasting resilience for coastal ecosystems.
